I have used a couple products from the Pond's line, my mother and grandmother both used their products and I never really had a problem with the products I've used (Pond's Clarant B3 Moisturizer and their Dry Skin Cream). So when I heard Pond's had a BB cream I decided to shell out the $10 bucks it cost since it was on sale and try it out, of course only after watching some reviews on it that mentioned it as not being greasy or oily.
I really like it, but I do have a love and hate relationship with it. I don't think its the product's fault, I think its really the state of my skin that affects my opinion on the product.
I bought the shade Light/Medium, and it is a pretty neutral tone--not too yellow or to pink. It has a light/medium coverage, but it can also be built up nicely. It also has a natural/demi-matte finish. It is definitely not dewy or super moisturizing, but it does have a natural, fresh sheen to it. I like this natural finish, but I do powder my forehead, nose and upper lip because I tend to get the oiliest there.
As you can see in the pictures below, I do have some redness and at this current time I do have several breakouts, hyper-pigmentation from previous acne and my face just isn't great. It is currently warm here in LA, not overwhelmingly hot (like its bound to get in a couple weeks) and this has held up better than a lot of face products I have tried. It never ends up looking oily (as my face usually does on its own), but after four to five hours, my face does get a little bit shiny. Not too much, nothing a little powder can't fix.
Left: bare face, no primer or BB cream, just washed. Notice blemishes, redness and discoloration.
Right: I only applied the BB cream to my right side, your left. Notice redness is covered, also the smaller spots and overall brightness, especially compared to the other side (your right) to which I didn't apply nothing and remains bare
Overall I do like this BB Cream. The consistency is thicker than other BB creams, it applies very nicely, its not streaky or patchy, it doesn't cling to dry patches, brightens the complexion, covers most of the redness and dark spots, but blemishes are still noticeable. As for the claim to diminish dark spots over time, I can't really testify against or for it since I do not use it consistently and I am using a dark spot reducing moisturizer (Pond's Clarant B3) which has been helping with hyper-pigmentation, so I don't know how much the BB cream has helped.
Full face makeup: BB Cream, Essence Gel Eyeliner,
Jordana Best Lash Mascara,
lip balm, glasses Derek Cardigan 7005 Tortoiseshell
I do see this as something I will be reaching for constantly this summer, and hopefully by then my skin will be clearer. --M. ♥
